The Age of Reclamation was a turbulent period after the Age of Cataclysm, as various nations and races recovered from the aftermath of the Second Daemon War, and engaged in what would become the final battle with the Dark Source.

The Voyage of the Mariners[]

With the destruction of Bastion , the concentrated mass of the Mariner people found itself as refugees on their fleet of ships. Markus Khamar, recently crowned Great Captain, would lead his people back to Idryllia's shores, landing at the ruins of Aergoth. Joining with the surviving Aergosians there, they would drive off scattered Daemon remnants and the Scaled Folk.

Solsguard[]

Recruiting the Gear Gnomes, the Mariners would begin to build their new capitol of Solsguard from the ruins of Aergoth. Although threatened by Laycin, the presence of Mardok would prevent a full offensive from striking them, and Solsguard soon established itself as a new power in Southrealm.

Rise of the New Church[]

Meanwhile in Northrealm, the New Church of Humanity began to take hold in the kingdom of Valdrent. Led by the eerily charismatic Lexan, it influenced the King Branneth Valdrent I to embrace the church’s doctrine of human supremacy and destiny as rulers of Idryllia. Initial war efforts were successful, securing Bilberry Hearth, but the heavier resistance of Obsidian City, the Northern Forest and Delwynvale, along with the refusal of the allied Dawn Legion to attack friendly settlements, ground the army to a halt. As New Church tactics began to draw questions, the New Companions would join with the agents of Delwynvale and the Arbiter Liam Markos to investigate the New Church. Persuading warlord Jeral Tarn to turn against his masters, they bypassed the war front to reach Valdrent. Discovering the church's nature as a mask for the Dark Source, most escaped to bring the charge to King Valdrent himself, while Markos would hunt down and kill Lexan (and literally topple the New Church itself). Lexan would be found alongside the king, despite his “death”, being revealed as the Revenant of Xan. Xan would strip the illusion upon King Valdrent, revealing that he had long been corrupted into a monstrous creature akin to a Daemon, and make his escape while the New Companions faced the creature, and Tarn rallied the Valdrent Guard against the New Churchs own guardsmen.

The Revenant Crisis[]

Xan would be joined by other “Dark Revenants”, Stormwind, Mizail, and Dessecar, forming an army of the returned dead at Black Sands, bolstered by Daemons and recruited Goblyns. This army would reach out to attack Northrealm, straining the resources of Delwynvale, the Dawn Legion, and Valdrent to contain. Originally aided by the Thualisyr, the dark elves would withdraw from the war after the Revenants stole the Dark Source vessel from Thul'Masira.

The New Gods[]

Venturing to Hallows Gate, Eli would use the Heart of Alestraxia to remove the corruption upon the Ghaulsyr guardians. Meanwhile the Thualisyr (led by Thul'Masira herself) and the Felborne emerging from The Maze would cause Tarn to stay behind to lead Valdrent's defence.

The battle in the plains of Valdrent would be climactic, as Tarn used Rumina's borrowed powder-caster to launch projectiles carved from Khazad's scales, and fell Thul'Masira herself. The destruction released would end the battle, and wreak havoc on all three armies, as well as form Shadowsfall Lake.

Meanwhile in Hallows Gate, the New Companions would find themselves heavily embroiled in an attack by Xan, the Felborne, and hordes of Dark Revenants. Unable to reach the Gate itself, hope was lost until Valar, Matthias, and Tolinus Firebeard arrived, leading a gathered host of goodly Revenants rallied from the Gate Plane. Tharaun would manage to lodge the Elder Dragon Axe in the Dark Source's vessel, disrupting its defences, and hurl both through the Gate into the Void.

Meanwhile, Eli, Thaera, and Stormwind would challenge Xan, trying to force him through the Gate as well, but after devastating his physical body, the trick-some sorcerer would leave behind an illusion to frustrate them, and make his escape.

Despite having entered Hallows Gate, the companions would find themselves strangely alive, protected by the ether from the Dark Source, or perhaps the Gate itself. They would emerge from Hallows Gate with new found powers as the New Gods, joined, to their chagrin, by Dessecar, Xan, and Mizail (and Laycindarius, despite his much earlier establishment.
