Arcane Magic is the form of magic practised by mages. Unlike Divine Magic, which relies on channelled Ether between worshippers and the subject of their worship, or Druidic Magic, which relies on existing Ether, Arcane Mages use reagents to supply their own ether. Mixing it in a manner similar to Alchemy, though on a more dramatic scale, and using the Magical Ether of the Fey Plane (and in some cases Dark Ether gleaned from the Dark Source, or remnants of its influence).
This grants Arcane users a greater versatility then their counterparts, but reduces the level of effects they can achieve. The added encumbrance of hauling reagents around also tends to push mages away from heavy weighted armour and the like, rendering them vulnerable.
Sorcerers, a particular oddity, are born or otherwise infused with high amounts of Ether in their own bodies, some rare specimens can even produce Ether themselves. This is often a result of odd bloodlines (Dragonbloods are the most common cases), and most often limited to one type of Ether. Needless to say, this gives them a certain advantage when dealing with magic utilizing their own forms of Ether.
