Bilberry Hearth is a farming town found on the narrow plains between the Frozen Belt and the Northern Forest. Strategically important in the region, as it occupies the most fertile land available. Contested heavily by its various neighbours, it is part of the Kingdom of Valdrent in the present Age of Mortals.
History[]
Age of Settlement[]
As the Wilderlanders moved into the Northrealm frontier ahead of Aergosian expansion, they eventually discovered Fyrelight Glade. While some stayed to learn the Druidic ways, many of their fellows simply settled on the edge of the Northern Forest. These would form the initial core of Deepwood and Bilberry Hearth.
Age of Knowledge[]
Bilberry Hearth was a contested location between the expanding Aergosian Empire and Deepwood, changing hands several times in their battles. Controlled by Aergoth when the Barony of Carpath separated, it would soon fall into the new barony's hands.
Age of Wars[]
Early in the Age of Wars, Clan Ellondir seized and became the unofficial rulers of Bilberry Hearth from their nearby Clan-hold. The town would again see several changes of ownership, before ultimately falling into Carpath's control once more when Ellondir fell into its curse. Its independence would return when Carpath's own curse forced its collapse back to its capital.
Age of Cataclysm[]
Bilberry Hearth suffered in the Night of Falling Stars, but was rebuilt with aid from Deepwood, marking a return of sorts to the Wilderlander nation in the Northern Forest..
Age of Reclamation[]
The burgeoning Kingdom of Valdrent woud seize Bilberry Hearth during the New Church wars, and hold it successfully against Deepwood. Even after Valdrent's defeat and the treaties that ended the war, Bilberry remains part of the Kingdom.
Age of Mortals[]
Valdrent continues to control Bilberry, with its garrison there presently acting as a command post for the blockade of Obsidian City.
Government[]
Originally simply a small community ruled by consensus, as it has grown, Bilberry has adopted a mayoral system. Within Valdrent it nominally answers to the King's authority, but the Mayor remains an elected position by locals, and handles most of the towns affairs.
Resources[]
Bilberry's main resource is its land. Beyond the Frozen Belt's range, it occupies one of the most fertile and farmable landscapes in the Northrealm.
People of Note[]
Walden Partos The Mayor of Bilberry Hearth in the Age of Mortals, he is well liked by his people, presently serving in his fourth three year term in the office.
