The Elder Dragons were six dragons of great age and power that conspired to lead the revolution of dragons against the Titans in the elemental planes. Crossing over into Akrylonor, they began to create their own races and became revered as gods, growing even more powerful through the effects of divine magic. While the worship of the Elder Dragons has fallen into mythology and forgetfulness, and many of their number have perished, the remaining dragons all have strong bonds with their followers and maintain great power.
Alestraxia[]
- Alestraxia, also known as the Dragon Queen, and Dragon of Life, was the main leader of the first six rebel dragons. Though venerated by all the Draconic Races, her chosen creations were the original humans, who would split into the Wilderlanders and Mariners as a result of the Primordial Wars. She was slain in battle with Kabal, a mutually destructive affair, and the Spine Range rose above their battle site.
Nyrghaul[]
- Nyrghaul, the Dragon of Death, and the Keeper of Hallows Gate was a consort of Alestraxia though the two never established a permanent union. Despite the grisly implications of his chosen aspect, he was a relatively benign force, maintaining Hallows Gate and transferring souls beyond the world, as well as creating his Ghaulsyr ("Servants of Ghaul") to preserve lore and maintain the course of fate. He was slain in the Primordial Wars by an ambush of Varthiir and The Leviathan.
Thuala[]
- Thuala was the Dragon of Magic, and Mistress of Stars. The most powerful arcane magic wielder of the eight she was the main one responsible for many of their magical works, including the barriers on the elemental planes, and the sealing of most of the Primordials. Inadvertently, she also released the Dark Source during the Primordial Wars, and for this was exiled by a council of the other Elders led by Yvera. She became Thul'Masira, The Fallen Star, a bitter and vengeful power of darkness and shadow lurking in Idryllia's Underworld. Her people are the Thualisyr ("Servants of Thuala"), many remained loyal to her, believing her innocent, while others defected to Yvera. She was slain by Jeral Tarn in the final battle of the Age of Reclamation.
Aquar[]
- The youngest of the eight, Aquar was an apprentice of Alestraxia, and readily abandoned his home in the water plane to join his mentor. Free-spirited and tolerant, he preferred to explore the oceans and eschewed much of the civilization the others created, creating the Aquarisyr ("Servants of Aquar") as companions in his travels. Aquar would eventually perish by sacrificing himself to destroy entrapped Daemons in Bastion, saving Idryllia from the conquest of the "Daemon God" Xylnulifein.
Dathix[]
- Dathix was the apprentice of Nyrghaul, and consorted to Thuala. Considered a likely successor should any of the three high elders fall, his life was cut short when he was slain during the battles with the Titans' forces. His death would lead Nyrghaul to Hallows Gate, resulting in the acquisition of the Death Aspect as he sent his apprentice's soul into the universe beyond.
Khazad[]
- Khazad, the Dragon of Earth. A proud warrior, and traditionalist. Khazad was not part of the revolution to begin with, and was the leader of the Titan's forces to recapture the rebels from Akrylonor. Loyal ot his oaths to a fault, he would eventually be persuaded by his mate Mordra, that the Titans held no loyalty to dragonkind, and joined the other rebels. He created the Khazadryn ("Warriors of Khazad") to aid in defense of the new civilization. During the Primordial Wars, he became entrapped in the Forge Mountains, where his creations live, and guides them still, anointing kings and high priests.
Mordra[]
- Mordra is the Dragon of Fire, and mate to Khazad. Espousing courage, hope, and inventfulness, she saw early on in their effort to recapture the rebels, that the Titan's were willing to sacrifice all dragonkind to enforce loyalty. She was able to persuade Khazad to sever ties with the elemental planes and join the dragons in freedom on Akrylonor. Since Khazad's entrapment, she has only left his side to hunt down the Primordials responsible, and her Mordrakryn ("Warriors of Mordra") gnomes remain close to the dwarven city as well.
Yvera[]
- Yvera was Thuala's apprentice, and joined her treacher in the rebellion against the Titans. During the Primordial Wars she aided in imprisoning many of the Primordials, though she was not present at the incident that released the Dark Source. Following the Primordial Wars, she led the four remaining Elder Dragons in judging Thuala, and deemed her exiled. Those Thualisyr who sided with the judgement turned to her patronage, becoming the Yveralisyr ("Servants of Yvera"). She also raised much of the continent of Altalar into the sky, to protect it from any Primordial attacks. Her Yveradryn ("Yvera's Warriors) served as ambassadors, but eventually became obsolete and remained on New Altalar. The Yveralisyr were spread across all three of the continents. Yvera's worship embodies nobility, intelligence, and pride.
