Akrynolor Wiki

The New gods are thirteen former mortals who in the periods ranging from Age of Cataclysm through to the present Age of Mortals, have become worshipped as divine entities. Although many of the New Gods were already incredibly skilled or powerful as mortals go, they became truly elevated by absorbing power from the Dark Source, in some cases by pacts with the strange entity, in others, by direct conflict with it. Most notably, this aura either stops their aging or slows it down immensely, and prevents them from being easily transferred beyond Hallows Gate and thereby passing from the world.

Despite some significant enmities among them, they avoid direct battle with each other, both due to the lack of power from worship by their young churches, and being aware of the cataclysmic results of the battle between Stormwind and Laycindarius, or in some cases, knowing the details of the Primordial Wars.

Belinasa[]

Belinasa Ti'al was the leader of the Knights of Alestraxia at Manae for some time, before joining up with the other New Gods invovled in the Banishment of the Dark Source when they came seeking Alestraxia's heart to cleanse the Ghaulsyr. A direct descendant of the Lost King, her bloodline is traced back to Altalaran rulers among humans. As a New God her worshippers embody her as Nobility, Pride, and Beauty

Dessecar[]

The apprentice of Tyrius Gadril, the Voice of the Unspoken and the first of the Arcane Society to truly begin serving the Dark Sourrce, Alraius Dessecar was a potent wizard, and soon became a powerful Dark Priest as well. Freely associating with Daemons, he vanished amidst the chaos of the Arcane Society's exile, to resurface in the north with his own force of Daemons. Defeated after a second attempt to conquer Delwynvale, he returned as one of the Dark Revenants during the Revenant Crisis, and was able to avoid being cast through Hallows Gate. As a New God, he is considered to hold aspects of Destruction, Chaos, and power over Daemons.

Eli[]

The last of the original Arbiters, Eli was unable to halt Stormwind's shattering of The Shard when Dessecar's invasion pinned him down. Defeating the warlock, he became entrapped in a contingency magic that sealed him in an Ether Pocket. Eventually freed with the aid of the Timekeepers, he became a guide to several other efforts, before more actively emerging to aid in the banishment of the Dark Source through Hallows Gate. His worshippers follow principles of Balance and Duty.

Laycindarius[]

Laycindarius purports himself to be the first New God, and leader by right (not acknowledged by any of the others), which is largely true, though disputable by Xan. The Archmage of the Arcane Society, he grew even more powerful than any other archwizard by using the magic of the Dark Source. He eventually sought to step beyond the world itself and was sealed out by The Shard until Kalen Belamont/Stormwind broke the Shard to challenge him in vengeance, resulting in both returning to Akrylonor. Laycindarius lays claims to magic itself, and his followers are equally focused on it, with a few taking some time to devote to other lost lore.

Kalas[]

Kalen Belamont was an orphan who sought to avenge his parents death at Laycindarius' hands. Trained by the Arbiter Matthias in magic, he stole some of the Arbiters' lore, and went in search of the powerful teleportation artefact known as the Rift Device (taking the name Stormwind in the meantime). Successful in breaking through the Shard, he narrowly escaped death at Laycindarius hands, plotting another attempt through the Age of Cataclysm. Recovering the Dark Source for Thul'Masira to gain the Fang of Kabal, he became corrupted by it, and his second attempt fell prey to diversion and he was struck down. Returned as one of the Dark Revenants, he eventually betrayed his fellows (when Elias Valar's death recalled him of his father) and the Dark Source itself. To balance out his own power, Eli transfered the Death Aspect to Kalen, who took on a new name Kalas to disassociate with his prior reputations, and now tends the Hallows Gate, preventing souls from remaining there for ages and decreasing the number of potential Revenants. His followers (relatively few) study the concepts of Death and Fate, much in the vein of the former Elder Dragon Nyrghaul who previously held the same position.

Mizail[]

Mizail was rebellious noble of Aergoth, who turned his leadership of the colony of Carpath against the empire. The Dark Source saw potential in this violent situation, and sent it's vampires to infest the city, turning Mizail and his people to its cause. Mizail was eventually killed, and Carpath cleansed by the founders of the Dawn Legion. He was ressurected as one of the Dark Revenants, before being killed a second time by Elias Valar. He is venerated as a manifestation of War and Huntsmanship.

Rumina[]

Rumina Deepdive was a gear gnome from Solsguard, and among those who cast the Dark Source from the land. Originally joining the group piloting a submersible craft she built in order for them to locate The Leviathan, she reamined until the end. Also notably, she forged the ammunition from smaller scales of Khazad the Earth Dragon that the warlord Jeral Tarn used to fell Thul'Masira. Mostly venerated by other Gear gnomes, her godly aspects are those of invention, creativity and progress

Sil'nasyr[]

Sil'nasyr is a half-Thualisyr, half-Wilderlander who had joined the companions as a spy of Thul'Masira. When he learned of their plan to banish the Source, he betrayed them to his queen, and caused the attack on Valdrent. Although he was never a mage, Thul'Masira had channeled power from the Source into him, granting him several supernatural abilities, many related to shadows. Outliving his queen, he now is revered as a god among the Thualisyr, and holds domains in matters of Shadow, Secrets, and the Underworld.

Thaera[]

Thaera is a Yveralisyr druidess. One of the oldest (save Eli) of those who banished the Dark Source, she was also amongst the heroes in the Second Daemon War. Instrumental on several occasions in negotiating with the primal and wild nature of the Primordials and their races durign the course of the groups quests. As a goddess, she favors aspects of Nature, Tolerance, and Renewal.

Tharaun[]

Kwalin Tharaun was a Khazadryn warrior, respected among his kin for many campaigns against the Brobdangeon. Retired to smithing in his middle age (for a Khazadryn, approximately one hundred and nintey eight in human terms) he became affiliated with the cpmanions who sought a weapon that could damage the Dark Source's outer shell. He forged an axe using scales of Khazad himself (several leftovers were made into shells by Rumina) but insisted he wield it. After the banishment, he now shepherds the Khazadryn and Mordrakryn of his home (to some dispute with Khazad and Mordra) and venerates craftsmanship and building.

Valar[]

Elias Valar is of dubiously mortal blood to begin with, the son of the Revenant of Matthias and a human mother. Nonetheless, he proves a fierce crusader for good, and led the cleansing of Carpath, slaying the dark Baron Mizail personally (a feat he would repeat when Mizail returned as a Revenant). He was the first and longest running commander of the Dawn Legion, and even when not directly involved in heroics, often sponsored those who were. Riding to one last campaign to banish the Dark Source, he was killed by Xan and Dessecar, but rejoined his companions at Hallows Gate to banish the Source. He has an incredibly potent core of worshippers amongst the Dawn Legion, and embodies aspects of valor, courage, and crusaders of good.

Wiladrin[]

Wiladrin Drogo was the great grandson of a famous halfling adventurer who had travelled with Kalen Stormwind and then became a hero of Delwynvale fighting alongside Eli against Dessecar's second invasion. The Drogo family became running mayors in the community, almost in the fashion of monarchs as a result. They also ran the thieve's guild, and Wiladrin was among it's best members when his cousin called on him to join a team infiltrating Valdrent and the New Church. Befriending his companions in the course of this quest, he would remain with them right up to Hallows Gate. As a New God, he is worshipped by thieves, and by moreu pstanding folk for quick wit and cunning.

Xan[]

Alexander Tumyich was one the Circle of Arbiters during the Age of Knowledge. Sent by his fellows to investigate the Arcane Society's sudden rise and powerful magic, he became entangled with the Dark Source. A natural spellcaster, unlike many wizards, channeling the Source without the trappings and bindings allowed him to quickly become one of its greatest mortal channels. He was able to slay all his former fellows save Matthias, before travelling through the Underworld to recover the Source's physical trapping from Keltraon's Wraelyns. Quartering at The Maze, he aided the Source in turning the Ghaulsyr into the vampires to neutralize their potential aid to any threats. He would embark on an effort of conquest with his new Felborne servants, and transferred his spirit into the undead skeleton of one such, heavily warded. He was entrapped by the Thualisyr of Obsidian City though, and eventually this form was destroyed by Kalen Stormwind as part of a bargain with the Dark Elves on his quest for the Rift Device. The Dark Source would later call him back as a Revenant, when he adopted the name Lexan, and established the New Church of Humanity, with himself as its lead prophet, to bring worshippers to the Source. Exposed, he was able to engineer an escape, and joined with newer Dark Revenants, Mizail, Dessecar, and (ironically) Kalen to wage a new war on behalf of their controller. The last Dark Revenant standing, he defended the Source at Hallows Gate itself, before being destroyed once more in a pitched duel with Kalen, Thaera, and Eli. They found that his attained power prevented them from forcing him through the Gate however, and his soul fluttered away in the Gate Plane, to reconstitute itself as a revenant once more. Embodying Betrayal, Corruption, and Ambition, his worshippers are chiefly among the Felborne, and some of the remnants of the New Church.
