The Primordial Races are the races created by the Primordials and the indigenous races of Idryllia (beyond the Primordials themselves and animal life). While Daemons and Felborne also stem from Primordial Races, they are covered under The Dark Races .

Avanar[]

A winged race, patroned by Xyntix the Wise-Wing, the Avanar are one of the trio of Beastmen races. Dwelling in Mardok (and in satellite communities about the cliffs of the Bleeding Sun Mountains ), they often act as Shamans and teachers amongst the trio of races.

Brobdangeon[]

The Brobdangeon are fierce warriors cretaed by Dangorm as a counter to Khazadryn and Mordrakryn armies in the Primordial Wars. The largest of the humanoid races (rivalled only by Felborne) they have continued to pose a threat to all their neighbours even centuries after Dangorms imprisonment. Another tribe of the creatures found in The Frostfangs are known as "Coldars" and exhibit odd elemental traits. During the Age of Settlement, Khazad also tried to alter the Brobdangeon to his patronage, and created the "Brobdangeon Truebloods" who since became the dominant class in their civilization (though ultimately did not follow Khazad, simply resulting in an enhanced threat). The Augryn are a distant offshoot of the Brobdangeon race as well.

Faelinyr[]

Children of Quarten, the Faelinyr are the youngest of the Primordial Races. Sharing Quarten's fascination with Fey and Druidic Magic, they dwell in the Northern Forest. Appearing as bipedal cats of various types, they are known for their stealthy prowess and grace, acting as scouts and sentries to the Ivory Vale and their Ursalim fellows.

Fenrim[]

The second creations of Varthiir, after the overall failure of the Howlers. The Fenrim comprise the bulk of the collective trio of Beastmen races, particularly if one counts their derivative Lopers (who mixed with human races) and Skin-Changers (Lopers who have an odd trait of Varthiir and the true Primordials in being able to change forms, though only within the range of humans and beasts). In the long periods of Varthiir's freedom and sole rule, the Fenrim have established themselves as the dominant caste within the society of Mardok.

Howlers[]

Varthiirs first creations, and its only ones created while working alone, the howlers never really elevated themselves above the level of a smarter pack hunter. While capable of working cohesively in numbers, they lack any noticeable society or direction save for when Varthiir itself has compelled them. Scholars suspect that Howlers may have eventually given rise to the Goblyn folk, who share many of their traits, while having elevated intelligence and more of the hallmarks of civilization.

Morgrad[]

Created by Baelgar, the Morgrad comprise the third race of the Beastmen trifectum. Larger then the Avanar or Fenrim, they take after the appearance of large oxen or mountain goats. Although relegated to the realm of physical labor during Varthiir's extended reign, in the time before the Primordial Wars, and a growing degree since Baelgar's freedom, they have acted as a ruling caste amongst the Beastmen, moderating the bloodlust of the Fenrim.

Praetens[]

The Praetens (oft referred to as fish folk, though their appearance runs to other sea creatures as well) were crafted by The Leviathan. Even amongst the generally chaotic and bestial Primordial Races, they are the most primitive and savage, dwelling in nomadic tribes in the sea and isles. A small cluster of settlements lies on Hunter's Isle, resisting efforts to exterminate it permanently.

Scaled Folk[]

The Scaled Folk are a trifectum of reptile like humanoid races created by Ilphendar. All three are amphibious, and dwell in The Scaled Moor (giving it its name). While they participted in the Primordial Wars, and had an intermittent enmity with Aergoth (including temporarily allying with the empire in the Age of Knowledge) and its successor Solsguard , they struggle most often amongst themselves. Most commonly, the snake like variety remains in charge, while the lizardlike creatures remain in a slave caste. The lizardlike variety of Scaled Folk can also be found in the Frostfangs, possibly a long migrated rebel contingent.

Tel-Kabal[]

The "People of Kabal" were created by the Primordial "King", Kabal the Mighty. Despite heavy losses in the Primordial Wars, including Kabal himself, they remain the most prominent of the Primordial Races and one of the few to be relatively tolerated in common human settlements. Large and fierce warriors, they nonetheless keep to traditions and honor codes. In an ongoing struggle to maintain their position in Northrealm, they have engaged in wars with the Plains Halflings and Brobdangeon, along with Aergoth (eventually aligning in a treaty) the Thualisyr, and Carpath. Amidst the turbulence of these battles, a schism now exists between the "civilized" Tel-Kabal, and more traditionalist "Savage" Tel-Kabal, who dwell at Telholme in the Forsaken Forest and continue to separate themselves from the Draconic Races.

Ursalim[]

The Ursalim comprise a rather small tribe in the Northern Forest, sharing Ivory Vale with the Faelinyr. Created by Madrium, a Primordial second only to The Leviathan in age, they lack the warlike traits of many of the Primordials. Instead preferring to chronicle wisdom and study the natural order (As well as the Fey magic that permeates the Northern Forest). Although wary of outsiders (and well defended by the Faelinyr), their sages possess some of the most complete and accurate histories of the world.

Wraelyns[]

Keltraon's creations, the Wraelyns are entities of great aptitude for Arcane Magic. Seeming to be mostly immaterial wisps of a vaguely humanoid form, they have shunned the surface of Idryllia since the Primordial Wars, transferring to the Underworld. In the absence of Keltraon, many of the Wraelyn were corrupted by the Dark Source, and since Keltraons post-cataclysm return, a struggle has gone on between the two divergent groups. They have a noted hostility with the Phantoms, also found in the Underworld.
