The Yveralisyr (sometimes dubbed the Forest Elves, though that only applies to the Idryllian Yveralisyr) are one of the two elven races. Originally part of the unified Thualisyr, they re-dedicated themselves to Yvera after the events of the Primordial Wars. Current Idryllian Yveralisyr have largely forgotten this, although the enmity between the two races remains.
Physical Characteristics[]
Yveralisyr are about the same height as humans, though noticeably lighter in frame. The Idryllian Yveralisyr has the same slightly tanned skin tone as Aergosians, and often brown or black hair. The Yveralisyr in the Western Isles, much like their Mariner counterparts, have darker skins with brown hair. The Yveralisyr on New Altalar have pale hair colouring that differs from the others. All the elves tend to have pale blue or green eyes.
Culture[]
The Yveralisyr have a roughly similar culture in all three places. Not quite nomadic, they don't have a particular attachment to their settlements, and often favour collapsible or otherwise mobile structures (Yveralym on Idryllia takes this to an extreme). They share a similar level of traditionalism with the Khazadryn dwarves, but are more open with other races.
Family bonds amongst the Yveralisyr are strong and permanent. Related to their extensive lifespan, multiple marriage often occurs (with both genders), keeping the bloodlines mixed. Additional adoptions into a family occur from acts of service or honour. A Yveralisyr can be part of multiple families, lending some of them to have extremely long names when used in full.
Yveralisyr warriors tend to favour light armour and archery, in a skirmishing fashion. While Idryllian Yveralisyr favour Druidic Magic, the Western Yveralisyr tend to use Arcane Magic. New Altalaran Yveralisyr use a mixture of Divine and Arcane Magic.
Religion[]
Idryllian Yveralisyr have long lost touch with Yvera herself. Their current religion revolves around The Lifegiver (an icon possibly related to Alestraxia) and a mixture of Druidic principles from Fyrelight Glade. Amongst the New Gods, Thaera, being a Yveralisyr herself, is the dominant deity by far.
Settlements[]
Yveralym is the main settlement of Yveralisyr in Idryllia. Found within the Northern Forest, generally in the northeastern region. The elves also mingle with the Wilderlanders, and are not uncommon in Deepwood or its various related settlements. Fairhearth was a mixed settlement of humans and Yveralisyr in the Western Isles, but was sacked by Daemon forces, scattering the Western Yveralisyr. On New Altalar, the Yveralisyr occupy the villages of Ysael and Verdein.
Relations with Other Races[]
The Yveralisyr are often found intermingled with the Wilderlanders, particularly in the Northern Forest. They have a centuries old enmity with the Thualisyr
.
History[]
Age of Settlement[]
When Thuala was exiled by the other Elder Dragons, most of the afflicted Thualisyr chose to join her, believing her innocent of the charges. The unafflicted Thualisyr were conflicted , with some joining the Thualisyr (their colouring would be largely bred out over time) while the rest changed their allegiance to Yvera, becoming the Yveralisyr. While many of the Yveralisyr returned to Altalar with Yvera, and many of these joined the New Altalar, some remained on Idryllia, acting as watchers to make sure the Thualisyr obeyed their exile. When the Thualisyr finally settled into Obsidian City, they settled into the nearby Northern Forest.
Age of Knowledge[]
Owing to their new homes location, the Yveralisyr would discover Fyrelight Glade, and as Yvera further distanced herself, the Druidic teachings became increasingly popular. As Wilderlanders settled Deepwood in the face of Aergosian expansions, the Yveralisyr would enter into a long alliance with them.
Age of Wars[]
Obsidian City would make several bids to wipe out the Yveralisyr, but the treaty with Deepwood tended to outmatch the Grey Elves on the battlefield. Meanwhile in the Western Isles, the Yveralisyr were nearly wiped out by the Daemons' sacking of Fairhearth, the refugees taking shelter in Bastion.
Age of Cataclysm[]
The Night of Falling Stars largely left Yveralym untouched. The Idryllian Yveralisyr would fight in the defence of Northrealm against the Daemon army, while the Western Yveralisyr fought alongside the last defence of Bastion.
Age of Reclamation[]
As one of the New Church's targets for destruction, the Yveralisyr found themselves in the ensuing battles, but remained as a solid front with Deepwood. With the Revenant Crisis, they would join with Deepwood when Obsidian City launched its attack on Valdrent, arriving late for the battle, but in time to form a defence of the battered Valdrent forces from any last ditch attacks.
Age of Mortals[]
The Yveralisyr are presently part of the blockade force on Obsidian City, working amidst Valdrent and the Dawn Legion. Amongst the refugee Yveralisyr of the Western Isles, many are considering both joining their northern cousins, or participating in Solsguard's efforts to reclaim the Isles.
